I am a native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Helen was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  I
migrated to Massachusetts in 1960 when I finished school and joined Bell Laboratories in
North Andover.  Helen was employed there also.  As you might have guessed that is where we
met and later married in 1966.  We built our home in Plaistow, N.H. in 1968 and continue to
reside on the property in our “in-law” apartment. We added the in-law apartment to the back of
the garage in 2004-5.  It was rather strange for me to set back and let real contractors do
“everything.”  I have been so accustomed to doing “everything” myself it did not seem right to
be setting inside reading or computing with all the banging and sawing going on outside.  The
addition was started in October and when we left for Florida after New Years, it was closed in
“weather tight.”  When we returned in Late May 2005, all we had to do was move our stuff from
the house across the breezeway to the apartment.  Through some legal effort, Melissa and
Stephen own the house and they moved in shortly after we moved out.  They have the
wonderful benefit of having us right next door!  We left behind what we could not find a place
for and let Michael and Melissa divvy it up.  Underneath we have a two-car garage and my
woodworking shop.  My shop is quite a bit smaller than what I had under the house, but it is
more than adequate for what I need.
